- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 10 tbsp cold butter cut into pieces
- 5-8 tbsp water
In a bowl combine the flour and salt, and mix.
Cut in the butter, and using your hands gently work the butter into the flour until it looks like coarse crumbs.
Add the water, a little at a time, mixing with a fork until comes together in the center of the bowl. You want the dough to come together, but loosely. Pie crust isn't meant to smooth.
Divide the dough into two equal pieces. Roll out on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. This crust can be used for all your favorite fruit or custard pies!
Add the water slowly! You may need more or less water than the recipe calls for, this is why you want to work slowly with this step. Add 2 tbsp. mix, and repeat until the crust reaches the correct consistency.
When the pie is finished you can brush the top crust and edges of the pie with an egg wash to give your pie a perfect golden finish!
