- 1 3 oz box red jello I used cherry Jell-O, but you can also use strawberry jello or a fruit punch jello
- 1 3 oz box blue jello blue jello, I used Berry Blue Jell-O, but you can also use blue raspberry.
- 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 0.5 oz unflavored gelatin two 0.25 oz packets
- 1 1/2 cups vodka you can also use, white rum, silver rum, or even coconut rum
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 1 1/2 cups cold water
To make the blue layer
In a large glass measuring cup or mixing bowl with a pour spout. Combine 1 cup of boiling water with your blue jello and whisk until the jello is dissolved. Add 1/2 cup of cold water, and 1/2 cup of vodka, and whisk to combine.
Carefully pour the blue jello mixture into the plastic shot glasses, filling them roughly 1/3 of the way up. Place the tray in the fridge and allow the jello to set for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before adding the next layer.
To make the white layer
In a large glass measuring cup or mixing bowl with a pour spout, combine 1/2 cup of cold water and 2 packages of unflavored gelatin. Whisk and allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes or until the mixture has thickened. Add 1 cup boiling water and whisk until the gelatin is dissolved. Add the sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 of vodka, and whisk to combine. Allow the white jello mixture to cool slightly, before pouring it on the blue layer.
Pour the white layer on top of the blue layer, filling the shot glasses to roughly the 2/3 full mark. Place the tray in the fridge and allow the jello to set for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before adding the next layer.
To make the red layer
In a large glass measuring cup or mixing bowl with a pour spout. Combine 1 cup of boiling water with your red jello and whisk until the jello is dissolved. Add 1/2 cup of cold water, and 1/2 cup of vodka, and whisk to combine.
Carefully pour the red jello mixture, on top of the white jello layers filling the remaining space in your plastic shot glasses(I like to leave a little gap on the top so there is room for toppings!) Place the tray in the fridge and allow the jello to set for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Once the red jello layer is set, add any toppings of your choice, and enjoy!
These 4th of July jello shots can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days!
If you don't have a measuring cup or bowl with a pour spout, you can use a plastic squeeze bottle, or a measuring spoon to transfer the mixture to the shot glasses.
Be sure to let each layer firm up completely before adding the next layer. If you pour the next layer on too soon the colors will bleed together!
To Make A Kid-friendly Version of these Jello shots, simply replace the 1/2 cup of vodka in each layer with an additional 1/2 cup of cold water!
