Easy Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte | Pure Maple Syrup Sweetened
This Easy homemade pumpkin spice latte, takes little to no time to make and always hit the spot! You don’t have to be a pro at making coffee or own an espresso machine, to make this easy fall latte.
I don’t consider myself a huge fan of pumpkin spices, I’m definitely not as crazy about it as some people I know. And I am a firm believer that we have taken our love of pumpkin spice a little too far. However, that being said, fall just seems complete, it doesn’t seem quite like fall unless I’ve had at least one good pumpkin spice latte.
And though my local coffee shop(or local gas station for that matter. ) could easily have satisfied my needs. But me being the person that I am. Someone who doesn’t like to spend money and whose ability to eat sugar seems to lessen with each passing year. I decided to start making myself from scratch homemade pumpkin spice lattes.
After a few years of trial and error, and learning that one needs to be very careful with how much ginger one puts into something. I finally seem to have found a pumpkin spice latte that hits the spot, tastes great, is easy to make, and is way cheaper than buying one from my local coffee shop.
Not to mention now I can have all the pumpkin lattes I want without having to leave the house!
Why use Pure Maple Syrup to sweeten lattes?
I’m glad you asked. In my opinion, maple is one of the best and most overlooked autumn flavors. It pairs beautifully with apples, pumpkins, nutmeg, and even savory things that Brussels sprouts, and squash!
But if you aren’t a fan of maple syrup or perhaps can’t find pure maple syrup. You can use white sugar, brown sugar, honey, or pretty much any other sweetener you enjoy in this latte in place of the syrup.
One thing to keep in mind though is that you DO NOT want to use artificial maple syrup in your latte!
Artificial syrup is mostly made of corn syrup and wouldn’t be very good in a latte. Also, you wouldn’t get much of a maple flavor, so you might as well use sugar. It’ll mix better into the latte and be much better for you!

Notes
Feel free to play around with measurements in this recipe. I usually make my lattes with only 1 tbsp of maple syrup as I don’t like my coffee overly sweet. I also tend to add more pumpkin, since I want the flavor to be strong.
Go easy on the ginger! You really only need a pinch, if you add too much ginger it will be overpowering and even burn your throat!
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend preparing this latte ahead of time, or any latte for that latte. Since both the coffee and spices will begin to separate.
But if you would like to prepare it ahead of time. Simply make as directed above, then place in a jar or a cup with a cover and store in the fridge until ready to use.
Tips for getting the perfectly hot latte.
There is nothing worse than going through the effort of making a latte, only to sit down, take a drink and realize it’s only lukewarm! Here are a few ways to avoid having a lukewarm or cold latte.
Tip 1. Make sure that both your milk and your coffee are hot. Usually, I will make my coffee, once my milk mixture is basically ready. If you are using instant coffee, make sure that the water you are using is also very hot, to begin with.
Tip 2. . Make sure your mug is warm. This might sound a little strange to some of you, but I’m sure those of you who live in an old farmhouse, or a fixer-upper understand!
My mugs are usually quite cold when I pull them out of the cupboard, especially in the fall and winter. I try to make taking out any mugs I am going to be using before I begin making my latte. I will also rinse my mug under hot water on very cold days to make sure it’s nice and warm before I put my latte in it.
Tip 3. If you aren’t going to be drinking your latte immediately. Perhaps you want to clean up from making it, grab a book to read, or get ready for a walk before you actually drink your latte. If this is the case then you will want to make your latte extra hot.
We tend to only heat our drinks to be as hot as we like to drink them, which means if we do anything between making them and drinking them, you guessed it, they won’t be hot.
Try making heating your milk until you are certain it’s too hot to drink, then by the time you are ready to drink it, it should be perfect!
You can always put your finished latte into a travel mug as well, to keep it hot for longer.
