This recipe is a bit different from what I usually post, though to be fair it’s a bit different from what I usually drink so, feel free to scroll to the recipe if you like.

But in the meantime, I’m going to share a little bit about why I love this drink, so much, where it came from, and why I think it would be the perfect signature cocktail for any wedding!

Champagne is my favorite thing to drink, and if given the option it’ll always be my drink of choice, no matter how small the event. From weddings to lazy Saturday mornings, to cracking open a bottle for no reason and drinking most of it while watching a movie. You get the point, if there’s champagne, and I have anything to celebrate or nothing else to do, I’m going to drink it. So naturally it was only a matter of time till a recipe came about.

This purple drink came about when I was trying to finish off a bottle of champagne, and happened to have some pomegranate juice in the house for some reason.

The minute I tasted this drink I knew I was on to something, the bubbly champagne, mixed with the sweet, but tangy flavor of the pomegranate juice, created not just a delicious, but also a beautiful cocktail, that just so happens to be one of the easiest cocktails you’ll ever make!

The name, of course, is in honor of Prince, and his song purple rain which my Dad has been playing/singing ever since I can remember!

Why this would make the perfect signature wedding cocktail

If you’re looking for purple cocktails to serve at your wedding(or any special event) please consider using this cocktail for your big day. Cocktails and champagne are a big part of weddings and most fancy gatherings.

But finding a signature cocktail is often hard. Trying to find something that fits your wedding theme, hopefully, matches your color scheme, yet is easy to make and crowd-pleasing. Well needless to say this can often be challenging.

This cocktail is beyond easy to make, and can easily be put together in basically no time at all. Since there is no fresh fruit or simple syrup in it, you remove the need to use a cocktail shaker. And so long as you can keep your champagne well chilled, you don’t even have to worry about ice.

I’ll also mention this cocktail is perfect for smaller weddings and gathers, as it can be made by literally anyone. Thus removing the need to have a bartender or having to learn how to make your signature. Plus champagne is usually a safe bet, and almost always crowd-pleasing.

With its purple color added sparkle, this purple cocktail is perfect for weddings of any season. It’s also a fun drink to make for parties, bridal showers, Mother’s Day brunch, and more!

Notes

Be sure to use 100% pomegranate juice, if you don’t the cocktail WILL NOT BE PURPLE!

If you are making this drink just for yourself(or a few friends) and you have leftover champagne. You can easily save it and keep it bubbly, by placing a spoon handle in the neck of the bottle, then covering it with a tea towel or plastic wrap.

The spoon with keep the champagne fresh and bubbly, while the tea towel will keep out any dust or flies.

You can also look for resealing bottles if you know you are going to make this in a small batch. There are quite a few brands that sell champagne in these bottles now, and let me tell you, they are a lifesaver! That being said, however, more often than not I just use a spoon to save any leftover champagne and it hasn’t failed me once!

Edible glitter will start to sink after a while. So be sure to serve your drink as soon as it’s done, and give a quick stir as well.

Can I make this a mocktail? (kid-friendly version)

Yes! You can totally and easily turn this cocktail into a mocktail. Since more often than not we have people at our events that can’t drink, and for many different reasons.

Whether they are too young, pregnant, have medical restrictions or their religion doesn’t allow it, there are many different reason people can’t/don’t drink. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get to join in the fun and enjoy a fancy drink!

Every time I make a cocktail recipe, I make sure to create a mocktail/alcohol-free version of it as well!
