Hello, thanks for stopping by!

I’m Rose the founder, recipe developer, writer, and photographer here at An Expression Of Food, where I share my love of cooking, from scratch recipes I’ve developed and created over the years, and my love of eating good food! I’m so glad you decided to stop by!

My Blogging Dream

I started AEOF on a whim back in 2022, as a place where I could share my passion for food and the belief that everything can be expressed through food(hence the name), I was hoping to create a place where I could share anything and everything to do with food and even the occasional recipe. I had no experience with blogging, social media(I didn’t even have personal accounts!), food photography, editing, or anything else. But I decided to trust the Lord’s leading and dove in!

I quickly learned that while I had a lot to say about food, and I still rant now and then about why I love it so much. What I really loved was cooking. I loved getting to be in the kitchen testing out new recipes, creating from scratch versions of family favorites and I loved getting to share these recipes with anyone who cared to try them!

And while I’ll always be good for a rant, I quickly realized that my blog was changing as was my vision for it. I decided to transition over to sharing only recipes. This allowed me to spend more time doing what I love and getting to share it with the world.

Today you’ll find all sorts of delicious and family-approved recipes here at AEOF! From 30-minute supper ideas to fast lunches, make-ahead and weekend breakfasts, easy sourdough recipes, and new and old desserts. and pantry staples.

All the recipes I share are easy to make, completely from scratch, (at least most of the time), and are created with simple living in mind. I love to share recipes that can be whipped up at any time, don’t call for all special or expensive ingredients, and are sure to be a hit with the whole family!

I hope you’ll stick around and enjoy the recipes I share here as much as my family and I do!

The Face Behind the Recipes(more about me)

I am a follower of Jesus Christ and try my best to live a life that is for His glory and honor. Currently, I live in the midwest, where I enjoy hot summers and beautiful autumns,  I share a home with my mum, dad, brothers, and sisters(older and younger!),  where we spend our days working on our someday flower farm, remolding the house, and driving each other crazy in the best way!

When I’m not in the kitchen, I can be found taking long walks, fighting with my rose bushes, and enjoying the perks of living on a dead road in the middle of nowhere.

At the moment I also work part-time as a chef and waitress at a local cafe in my hometown, though it is my dream to turn blogging into my full-time career! I like to spend my spare time reading cookbooks, practicing portrait photography, and collecting random facts and quotes to annoy people with later!

A few fun facts:

I used to watch cooking shows instead of cartoons when I was little, and I have been cooking supper for my family since I was 8!

I once made pancakes for Henry Winkler. (and yes I have proof!)

I hate reading and more often than not read more cookbooks cover to cover in a year than regular books.

History and film are two of my biggest hobbies and I will spend endless hours watching, reading, and studying them.

My younger siblings named my sourdough starter Steve, possibly after Captain America

I love the rain and watching storms roll in, I’ve been known to go walking for hours in the pouring rain.
